The said Astoria, \u00a0a &#8220;&#8230;former industrial town two hours from Portland has transformed into a stylish weekend destination while honoring its maritime history&#8221;. \u00a0I agree with the article and was pleased that it mentioned a number of places that I have done design work on.<\/p>\n<p>I was the architect for\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.commodoreastoria.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Commodore Hotel<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0had laid dormant for a number of years before its resurrection as a trendy hotel. On the <a href=\"http:\/\/cannerypierhotel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cannery Pier Hotel<\/a>, I gave design advice to Jake the owner\/developer\/designer that led to the creation of the grand lobby looking out at the river. \u00a0For the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fortgeorgebrewery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Fort George Brewery and Public House<\/a>\u00a0I have helped with a number of interventions, including creating the outdoor patio and helping with the upstairs renovation (soon to be opened). \u00a0At <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oregonstateparks.org\/index.cfm?do=parkPage.dsp_parkPage&amp;parkId=129\" target=\"_blank\">Fort Stevens State Park<\/a> I am helping the Friends of Old Fort Stevens repair the roof of the Artillery Engineers Building. \u00a0At the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crmm.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Columbia River Maritime Museum<\/a>, I was the architect for the renovation of the Astoria Train Depot which has now become the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crmm.org\/barbey-maritime-center\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Barbey Maritime Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Good to see Astoria getting the recognition it deserves and proud of my small part in it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New York Magazine had a recent article\u00a0\u00a0extolling the virtues of Astoria.
