{"id":1118,"date":"2015-01-29T23:12:22","date_gmt":"2015-01-29T23:12:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jayraskinarchitect.com\/?p=1118"},"modified":"2015-11-29T01:04:36","modified_gmt":"2015-11-29T01:04:36","slug":"oregon-design-professionals-day-at-the-capitol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jayraskinarchitect.com\/?p=1118","title":{"rendered":"Oregon Design Professionals Day at the Capitol"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jayraskinarchitect.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/GetMap.ashx_.png\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jayraskinarchitect.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/00015r-20-00-15.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-815\" alt=\"00015r 20-00-15\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jayraskinarchitect.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/00015r-20-00-15-150x150.jpeg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jayraskinarchitect.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/00015r-20-00-15-150x150.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/www.jayraskinarchitect.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/00015r-20-00-15.jpeg 288w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<\/a>On Tuesday, February 17th, Oregon&#8217;s design professional community will be coming together to meet with the Oregon Legislature. \u00a0Typically these types of events are a chance for design professionals to talk to legislators about\u00a0\u00a0professional concerns. \u00a0This year is a bit different. \u00a0The design community is focussing on the passage of the Oregon Resilience Task Force (ORTF)\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/OMD\/OEM\/docs\/resilience_tf\/2014%2009%2029%20ORTF%20Report.pdf\">recommendations<\/a>. \u00a0These recommendations\u00a0range from establishing a Resilience Policy Advisor to the Governor, land uses changes related to tsunami&#8217;s, additional revenue for seismic upgrades for transportation, the schools, essential facilities, seismic resilience research, and seismic assessments of Oregon&#8217;s energy infrastructure.\u00a0The ORTF recommendations were requested by the Legislature as a first step to to implementing the\u00a0<a href=\"\/www.oregon.gov\/OMD\/OEM\/osspac\/docs\/Oregon_Resilience_Plan_Executive_Summary_Final.pdf\">Oregon Resilience Plan<\/a>\u00a0(ORP), a fifty year plan to prepare Oregon for a Cascadia earthquake and tsunami.<\/p>\n<p>Also unusual, is the extent of the collaboration of the design professional community. \u00a0The professional associations of architects, civil engineers, public works engineers, structural engineers, and planners will all be in attendance. \u00a0This reflects the importance the design community attaches to resilience. \u00a0It also continues the efforts of many of these same design professionals, planners, and scientists who worked pro-bono on the creation of the Oregon Resilience Plan.<\/p>\n<p>The ORP and this effort are unusual in one other way as well.
