This project
was actually for two houses. The beach front house is a house for the
owners and a second house was built to sell. The siting of the houses
was done to insure that all had superior views. This was accomplished
by separating the garage and guest room from the main house and connecting
them with a breezeway. The second house's main view is between the two
houses directly looking at Haystack Rock. The breezeway wall and roof
height were adjusted to give the second house views of the beach while
providing privacy to the outdoor space for the main house.

| Designed
with Cape Code type simplicity, the house has a central stair hall, with
the kitchen, dining and living flowing together. A Rumford style masonry
fireplace and bookcases provide warmth to the living area. The kitchen is
country style. All of them look directly out to Haystack Rock. The master
bedroom suite looks out to Haystack and there are two other bedrooms along
with a large playroom upstairs. The heating in the house is done with radiant floor heating that is electronically controlled, allowing the house to be on maintenance heating and be brought up to normal heating before the owners arrive. etails of the Stapleton Houses. | ![]() |
