Nestled in the dunes in the Chapman Point area of Cannon Beach, the house commands exceptional views to Haystack Rock to the south and to Chapman Point to the northwest. A circular great room was designed to capture the panoramic views. The massing of this large house was broken down by creating linked pavilions and providing lantern roofs to provide light to the rooms below. Over the master bedroom, the lantern has been transformed into a small office area that is accessed by a helical stair.

Hall House

Jay Raskin Architect

A large masonry fireplace runs up through the two levels of the house and an artist has shaped it as a work of art. The lower level has a central media room with a bar, several bedrooms, hobby room, and laundry. The upper level has a great room, kitchen/dining, master bedroom suite, and guest room. A wine tasting cellar is in the basement. Technically, the house has curved steel beams that are used to create the circular form of the great room. It also has a cantilevered concrete deck that floats around the great room. The house was completed in spring of 2000.
